• OIL PAINTING/WATERCOLOR

An intro to the aesthetics, techniques, and the historical aspects of Painting will be discussed. We will then use oil color/watercolor to explore, basic design, Color, and composition on a two dimensional surface. Color theory is closely examined in all aspects as to how it relates to visual composition. The use of Traditional & contemporary methods of painting will be explored. A demonstration of Stretching & priming canvas will also be done. Outdoor (Plein Air painting) techniques can also be completed of the landscape around us, as weather permits, during the summer months. The Subject matter will constantly be changing.  Bring your own supplies & Brushes. 
Open studio times; 6 sessions;2 hour sessions, Cost: $120.00.
 Studio easels on site.  Minimum 2 students and maximum 8 students. For both watercolor and oil painting classes. 
A Trip to the DeSmet Art Paint-In Weekend is planned (Usually 2nd weekend in August). Bring your own supplies & brushes. Provide your own transporation or check with others who might have space for out in the field studies.  Great chance to meet other artists and painting styles.

 

• PASTEL/DRAWING

Fundamental course to introduce various aspects of pastels: 
Materials, techniques, form, and content. The primary Activity is direct experience designed to sharpen perception, Stimulate imagination, and increase your ability to see & Interpret your world in pastels. 
Cost: $120.00. Bring your own supplies (pastels, paper, stumps, etc).
6 Sessions (2 hours each) Cost: $120.00. Minimum 2 students  and maximum 8 students

• BEGINNING STAINED GLASS CLASS (ONGOING)

Fall, winter, & Spring Sessions: Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-7:00 PM:  6 Sessions      Cost: $140.00 (plus Tax); Glass & supplies extra
Summer Sessions: June & July Thursday 1-3:00PM or 5-7:00 PM
We assist you in designing your pattern & help you along the way to develop your skills in: cutting, shaping, develop changes in your pattern, apply copper foil, & to solder your panel. Usage of our tools included.

• OPEN CLASSES/STUDIO (Mosaics, Stained Glass & Leaded Glass)

Wednesday thru Saturday, during our regular business hours (CLICK HERE); inquire with instructor.

• TEACHER’S WORKSHOPS FOR ART COLLEGE CREDITS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS

Inquire for scheduled dates: 6 sessions 2 credits including art history of stained glass or Mosaics.   Studio costs: $150.00 &  Separate University of S.F. registration fees per unit: Beginning Stained Glass, Beginning Leaded Glass, & Beginning Mosaics offered year round all months except August. Glass & supplies are extra; usage of our tools included. Hours arranged with students for studio time.

• MOSAICS CLASS (ONGOING)

Bring a table, a tray a flower pot, a bird bath or an idea to transform with Mosaics glass.  6 Sessions; Wednesdays or Thursdays: 1-3:00 PM or 5-7:00 PM Cost: $125.00 glass & Supplies & embellishments extra.  Learn designing, cutting, terminology, shaping skills, applying substrates, adhesive, & grout. Usage of our tools included.

• BEGINNING FUSED/ SLUMPING GLASS CLASS (ONGOING)

Choose beautiful colors to create your heirloom pieces.  Fused plate or bowl class: $95.00   Fused Jewelry class: $135.00 (2 pendants & 2 sets of earrings or 4 pendants) Glass firing included with design, cutting, molds, & instruction. Glass & embellishments such as bails & chord are extra. You set your hours. 6 sessions; Wednesday thru Saturday during open hours.

• FUSED OR SLUMPING DESIGN CLASS (ONGOING)

Wednesday 5-7:00PM Cost $230.00 plus glass & frit & powder supplies. Usage of our tools, grinders, saws included.  Learn how to create, design your own heirlooms of bowl, plates, and platter. Usage of Kaiser Lee Board, addition of frit & powders & metals in the design process Includes firing. You  are limited only by your imagination.

• FOR THE LITTLE ONES IN THE FAMILY OR THE YOUNG AT HEART CLASS

Seasonal sun catchers: bunnies, leaves, hearts, ghosts, snowflakes, pumpkins, bumble bees, shamrocks, flowers, bees etc. as a sun catcher or a lawn stake. Must be at least 16 yrs. old. Or 14 yrs when accompanied by an adult: 6 sessions: Cost: $85.00 plus supplies & glass. Late afternoon classes Wednesday, Thursday (3-5:00PM) or Saturday afternoons 2-4:00PM. Usage of our tools included.
